Voya Financial Named to 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Index

NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Voya Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VOYA), announced today that it has been named to the 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). Launched in 1999, the DJSI is a globally recognized independent benchmark that assesses – and ranks – the economic, environmental and social performance of companies. Considered the gold standard for corporate sustainability, the ranking serves as a key reference point for investors and businesses.

"Our inclusion in the 2016 DJSI North America index reflects our commitment to sustainable and socially responsible business practices," said Chairman and CEO Rodney O. Martin, Jr. "We are honored to be recognized for this commitment, which includes exceptional performance in customer relationship management, human capital development, corporate governance, energy reduction and environmental awareness."

Voya Financial scored well above the industry average in numerous categories. Out of 30 companies in the diversified financial services category invited to apply, Voya Financial is one of only eight companies to become a member.

"Building a more-sustainable future for our customers, clients and communities is central to our culture and a key component of our business strategy," continued Martin. "This honor is an endorsement that we're achieving meaningful results, excelling as a leader in our industry and advancing our vision to become America's Retirement Company™."
