Voya Financial employees have a long history of contributing time, talent and financial support to better the communities where we, and our customers, live and work. They foster a deep culture of giving. Through the Employee Giving Campaign (EGC), our robust volunteer programs and executive board placement program, employees are driving positive change. While employee engagement benefits the community, it also helps employees gain new skills, expand professional networks, gain fresh perspective, discover creativity and practice collaboration skills.

Employee Giving Programs

One vehicle for our employees to demonstrate their commitment to the community is our employee giving program, which kicks off with the Employee Giving Campaign (EGC). The campaign takes place in September of each year and in 2015, Voya employees pledged charitable gifts of $2.1 million in one month alone. When employees contribute to a qualified charity, Voya Foundation matches dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 per employee per year. Gifts to our signature partner Junior Achievement are matched 2:1. Employee donations from EGC in 2015/2016, together with the match from Voya Foundation reached $6 million.

This investment creates a meaningful difference in our local communities and reinforces our corporate value We Care.

Employee Volunteerism Programs

National Day of Service

National Day of Service (NDOS) is a company-wide program harnessing the greatest asset we have to share - Voya employees. Across the company, executives and employees have the opportunity to participate in a diverse array of community initiatives during NDOS. Whether it’s working on a team alongside colleagues or participating in an individual project, our unified contribution of time and energy on a single day has a significant impact on the communities where we live and work. In 2016, more than 3,500 employees volunteered over 13,500 hours during NDOS. 

Volunteer Time Away

Each year Voya employees serve their communities — and enrich their own lives — by participating in the company's Volunteer Time Away program, which allows employees to volunteer for up to 40 paid hours per year during their normal work day.

Volunteer Matching Gifts

When an employee volunteers 50 hours or more on their personal time to an eligible nonprofit organization, Voya Foundation donates $500 to the nonprofit organization.

Volunteer Sabbatical Program

This year through a competitive nomination, application and colleague voting process, a selection of Voya employees were chosen to participate in an inaugural week long sabbatical project that supports Voya Foundation’s giving priorities. Employees volunteer their time to support community needs.

Executive Board Placement Program

This inaugural program, designed to further our community impact, provides opportunities for select Voya executives to serve on nonprofit boards in their local communities. The initiative is mutually beneficial by providing nonprofits with business expertise and promoting deeper connections to the communities where Voya offices are located.
